Each prototype was made with the intent to test and improvise on. The designs incorporated the flexibility to easily test various options for the angle of the starting platform, height of the gate, and the angle of the ramp.
The primary material used was 6mm MDF (medium density fibreboards) panels. 12mm acrylic were used for parts which required rigidity. These materials were laser cut and altered using simple hand tools.
The objects and the ramps were tested for their usability and readability. When racing the objects, the outcome must showcase the physics principles correctly and distinctly, ensuring that the motion sensor and the child can infer who won.
